Crier Column 5/31: WHS Student-Alumni Dream Concert; Charlotte's Web opens Friday; WHS victory at Salem-Cumberland Golf Tournament

FRIDAY, MAY 31, 2024

The 25th Annual Woodstown High School Chamber Choir last Tuesday, May 28, 2024, featured senior soloists Jessie Bittle, Sam Gunther, and Natalee Basile, and guest soloist Emmanuel Acosta. (Photos courtesy Mrs. Tatum)

Hear ye, hear ye! O yez, o yez!

I had the distinct pleasure of seeing the 25th Annual Woodstown High School Chamber Choir Recital — the choral program's most prestigious evening — on Tuesday night, and the performances were nothing short of extraordinary.

The choir sang beautifully, the senior soloists received plentiful ovations, guest tenor soloist Emmanuel Acosta sang two fantastic selections (Una Furtiva Lagrima and Bring Him Home from Les Miserables), and we all witnessed the final, phenomenal performance of the student-led ensemble WOODTONES. At the end of the evening, the choir and some alumni sang "One Day More" with guest artist Acosta.

The finale — a Chamber Choir tradition — was a performance of "Jenny Rebecca" by the Chamber Choir, guest artist, and Chamber Choir Alumni. This is one of the most exciting, engaging, and entertaining nights of the year. Congratulations to Director Kahlil Gunther on this 25th anniversary milestone and for leading a tremendous and talented choir.
